Built by Northrop Grumman Newport News in Newport News, Virginia, she is the Navy's Sixth Virginia class submarine, has one million parts and 140 shipboard systems, and will cost $2.7 billion and require 14 million man hours to assemble.

This 1.75" coin salutes the USS New Mexico and all of her crew. The reverse has a special plate designed for the engraving of a name and rank or personal message.
