Product Description

USS New Mexico (SSN-779), a Virginia-class submarine, will be the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for the 47th state. Built by Northrop Grumman Newport News in Newport News, Virginia, she is the Navy's Sixth Virginia class submarine, has one million parts and 140 shipboard systems, and will cost $2.7 billion and require 14 million man hours to assemble.

This 1.75" coin salutes the USS New Mexico and all of her crew. This uniquely shaped coin is struck in a brass alloy and given an antique finish, followed by the precision application of enamel in the colors of the ship's crest. The reverse has a special plate designed for the engraving of a name and rank or personal message.
