Product Description

The USS Topeka (SSN-754) is a force for defending American interests and protecting freedom across the globe. A Los Angeles-class submarine for the US Navy, she is impressively equipped to succeed in even the most demanding of missions. The USS Topeka was named after Topeka, Kansas, the third ship in the United States Navy to have that honor.

Commissioned on 21 October 1989, the USS Topeka has a displacement of approximately 6,200 tons submerged and stretches almost 362 feet in length. She provides the fleet with the capacity to fulfill numerous missions thanks to her unlimited endurance given by the nuclear propulsion plant, advanced sonar, torpedo, cruise missile, and mine delivery systems, and a combination of speed and stealth due to sophisticated quieting technologies.

Minted from bronze, and finished with an antique patina, this 1 3/4" x 2 1/4" coin pays tribute to the USS Topeka and salutes the exceptional service of her crew. The obverse features the port view of the USS Topeka sailing through the ocean. The reverse displays a rendition of the badge of the USS Topeka, imbued with bold colored enamel, along with the ship’s motto “DEFENDER OF THE HEARTLAND.”
