GUPPY Conversion Submarines

Throughout the period spanning from World War II to the introduction of nuclear power, these formerly wartime workhorses were retrofitted to enhance their speed and endurance, symbolizing the forefront of our undersea fleet.

Following World War II, the United States Navy launched the Greater Underwater Propulsion Power Program (GUPPY, with the "Y" added for more straightforward pronunciation) to enhance its submarines' submerged speed, maneuverability, and endurance. This calendar explores the seven variants: GUPPY I, GUPPY II, GUPPY IA, Fleet Snorkel, GUPPY IB, and GUPPY III.
